Kirsten Johannsen
KIRSTEN JOHANNSEN is a media artist based in Berlin, Germany. In her studio practice, Johannsen creates interactive environments and sculptures that delve into the complexities of nature — its time and its passages. Her current work, The Nomadic Nature Kit, explores how space travel impacts leisure activities and perceptions of "home." Exhibited worldwide, Johannsen's work includes a wide range of analogue and digital media (See Haeuten, The Panoptical Village, Slice_Game, Aeonion Concert, Singing Deer, Dreimaedelhaus). Her objects and installations have been collected by a number of institutions: ZKM | Zentrum fuer Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe, Museum Ludwig Cologne and Neue National Galerie Berlin. Presently an independent artist, Johannsen has lectured at the Hochschule der Kuenste in Berlin, Hochschule fuer Gestaltung Karlsruhe and at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany.
